As well as her 1996 win at the London Marathon, Liz has a string of medals and achievements to her name; she won gold in the 1991 World Championships in Toyko at 10,000 metres, a gold medal in the 1986 Commonwealth Games and a silver medal in the 1986 Olympics in Seoul.
In 1992 she stormed to victory at the inaugural IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, so helping Great British and Northern Ireland’s women’s team to silver.
